A new project for the club, refurb and rebuild for the Harden Murrumburrah Historical Society. Ex Harden Murrumburrah Ambulance.
On Sunday March 10 the Murrumburrah-Harden Showgrounds will play host to the tenth anniversary of the historic Harden Truck and Tractor Show which will be exciting punters from 9:00 am. You can see classic trucks and tractors, working trucks, classic cars and stationary engines while there will also be market stalls, food stalls, photographic displays, buses, fire engines and military vehicles all for a gold coin donation. Exhibitors enter free.
You can also camp out for $25 per night. There is a free BBQ on the Saturday for exhibitioners looking to camp out.
Kevin Sharp said that people can expect the same old tractor show that Harden loves. “We have a guy coming over from Lady Smith Railway who is bringing over a model train layout. We have classic cars, it’s the same as last year only better,” he said. “There’s more interest, which is the main thing. Especially when compared to the first one, we’ve always had reasonable numbers but it is growing. People are more interested in old trucks now than what they were ten years ago.
“You get a combination; we have face painting for the kids to keep them occupied and there are plenty of families that come along. A lot of blokes bring their wives and kids so we are getting a number of families. “We had quilting displays that we used to always have but we can’t anymore because the women doing that have given it away and have other interests. “We are striving to get something different at every one which I hope the model train can provide.
“We have two categories for trucks, working trucks and classic trucks. We have tractors and classic cars and stationary engines. We used to charge but we gave it away because you get so many good trucks out here and it’s so difficult to find which is the best. We give them a raffle ticket as they come through the gate now and if they win the classic truck category, they win that and if they win the working truck category, they win that. It doesn’t matter if it’s the oldest truck or the flashiest truck, we are all on equal footing.” The history of trucks, tractors and everything in between will all be there to see at the Showgrounds.
