The Harden Polocrosse held its annual carnival last weekend with teams travelling from Jugiong, Canberra, Hall, Burradoo, Wagga and Woollondilly to the Harden Racecourse to participate in the event.

The carnival was run over the weekend, with Sunday being the finals.

President Paul O’Connor was pleased with how the weekend went.

“We had about 14 teams on the weekend which was back a little bit on what we usually do; we normally have about 22 teams but the ordinary weather on Saturday kept a few away,” Paul said.

“We presented one of our members Michael Hunter with a life membership on Saturday night. Michael has been involved with the Club for a long time and is a bit of a character so when presenting it to him, it turned into a roast of Michael where everyone was getting up and having a bit of a joke with him.

“We had a magnificent meal on Saturday night which was all done by our members. We fed about 120 people roast pork, lamb, potato bake and veggies. The pork was donated by Houston Pork over in Wombat and it was one of the highlights.”

Paul gave special thanks to his committee who put the event together.

“It was a good team effort by Club members to put it on, it’s a big job, we were still packing up all the gear on Monday but everyone that came seemed to have a great time.

“Bill Webb our secretary did an outstanding job, that’s probably the hardest job and he did a terrific job.”
