In the heart of Wombat lies the iconic Wombat Hotel; for years now the hotel has been a staple of the village bringing in people for a delicious lunch, cold beer and great company.

After four years of owning the pub, current owner Ian Wilson is looking to lease or sell the pub to an interested party.

The pub; which features a central bar with five taps, two dining rooms, a dedicated ANZAC room, a beer garden and an outdoor dining area has received plenty of local support throughout Ian’s tenure, and long before, and is sure to continue to receive the support of the public.

With the classic Wombat statue just across the road, the pub receives plenty of customers who are tourists passing through the town, which is situated 12 km from Young and 15 km from Harden.

Wilson says his decision to sell the pub, comes off the back of working seven days a week for the past 12 years.

“It’s time for us to take a break, before we bought this pub four years ago we had the Beehive Hotel in Coolac; we originally had both and were running both at the same time and then last year we sold the Beehive to pay for cover expenses acquired over Covid and carried on running this one but now it’s time for us to take a break,” Ian said.

“She’s a good little pub, it’s very well supported and we have plenty of regulars who come here either Sunday afternoon for a drink and a feed or Saturday night to listen to a bit of music.

The support from the tourists is great as well, especially over summer, we barely have time to scratch ourselves.

“There’s plenty of variety with the five taps and during the summer our customers love the beer garden. It’s quiet out there and you can just sit back and relax and enjoy a beer.”

With great local support and a booming tourist trade, The Wombat Hotel is an excellent Hotel and won’t disappoint.

The Hotel also has a great social network with over 5000 followers on Facebook. The Hotel has a great social group that runs a weekly raffle and major events throughout the year, a fishing club has also kicked off with great support bringing more people into the venue.

The current asking price for the hotel is $1.2 million.
