The cogs are beginning to turn again for every sports club across the region as the winter sports season approaches quickly, but the Harden Hawks are making sure they don’t fall short before the season starts.
The Times sat down with Coach Nick Hall for an update on how the Hawks training is going and if his word is anything to go by, fans of the George Tooke Shield should be keeping an eye on the team this year.
“It’s early days but the momentum is building,” he said.
“We’re trying to find that
fine line between not getting too crazy about fitness and things but being prepared.
“We need to just get more people to training and do it but what the Hawks have been good at the last few years is showing up.
“They showed up to games, they showed up to training, we’ve had great numbers all last year and it started again this year pretty well.
“It’s one or two faces I’d like to see get their butt down there but basically, everyone’s training is good.”
While plenty of old faces will be reappearing, Nick Hall was happy to say a few new faces will likely be joining the ranks.
“There’s a couple of blokes we will be having a look at.
“We still have to confirm one or two guys, get their name on the rego, but we’ve had a few new faces at training.
“Alex Pirie is a guy, his name has been floating around the system for a while, he’s been around with a broad range of experience playing across different regions, so Alex is an interesting new face back for the Hawks.
“What we had last year was more than capable, we just want to bring in one or two new faces to freshen us up.
