Previously known as the Showgirl of the Year, the Young Woman of the Year has become a prestigious title for role models in the community.

This year, at the Murrumburrah Harden Show, the crown was given to Georgia Murray for the example she sets for the women in the community.

Georgia Murray spoke to the Twin Town Times about how it feels to be crowned the title.

“I’m honoured to be able to represent the town in such a way and I’m excited to be able to keep going with that.

“To represent the town in a few things and to be able to represent the women of our town and the region is a good feeling.

“[The rename to Young Woman from Showgirl] is more fitting. I think that a lot of people sort of associate Showgirl with more of a pageant side of things, whereas the Young Woman makes it more like it is about women in area.”

Outside of winning the title, Georgia thought the show this year was a good day out. “It was really good. It was good to see that people still come out, even though it was such a terrible day. “It’s good to see the small community that we do have coming together to support each other like that.

“I want to thank the Show Society and the community for holding a great show this year, even despite the weather.”

Georgia Murray has become a big name in the town, especially after her rugby union team, the Harden She-Devils won the 2022 premiership a few weeks ago in Cootamundra.

Murrumburrah Harden women are in good hands with the likes of Georgia setting an example for young women all throughout the region.
