The Harden Hawkettes will be looking to be crowned the George Tooke Shield League Tag premiers when they play the Boorowa Roverettes in Bungendore this weekend. Our ladies have displayed nothing but dominance this season, blitzing through the competition winning 15 from 15 and looking to have a season that would see them titled invincible.

In a team full of superstars it can be hard to stand out amongst them but the Hawkettes definitely have plenty of standouts. Grace, Clare and Georgia Smith have all been integral from the back bringing the ball up off kicks at lightning speed.

Emma James has been her usual self, steering the side around and bringing her patented commanding presence. As if they weren’t strong enough the Hawkettes will have a big addition on Saturday when She Devils representative Maddie Douglass travels with the team.

Maddie was a freak of nature for the She Devs this past season as they enjoyed their first-ever Grand Final win, there’s no doubt she will be looking to bring home yet another Grand Final for her teams and she is sure to be just as integral to the Hawkettes as she was to the She Devs.

Though boasting an impressive record, the Boorowa Roverettes are no easy beats, being second in the competition with 13 wins and 2 losses.

With both losses occurring against the Hawkettes.

The closest the two teams came was when the Hawkettes held the Roverettes scoreless winning 10-0, though the Boorowa side were no slouches not conceding a point in the second half. The ladies from Boorowa are also sure to be carrying plenty of confidence after last week’s thrilling win versus the Cootamundra Bullettes 14-12 in extra time.

Despite the Roverettes clean track record, coach Jason Pollard is confident in his teams’ abilities.

“If we keep our offense the way it is going, it will make it difficult for anyone

“There would be nerves there but we control them,

“Hopefully we can keep our undefeated season intact and it would be great to get in there and get a win overall for sure. “The girls deserve to win it, in previous seasons we were undefeated as well but due to Covid we didn’t get the last game, they’ve worked basically for the last three years really to this day.” The game will be played at 1:30 pm in Bungendore
