The Murrumburrah Harden Spring Time Show is once again swinging around again for the year, with next weekend’s edition set to be the show’s 134th running. The 134th Murrumburrah Harden Spring Time Show will commence next Friday 9th September and will run into Saturday 10th September. Friday’s events will commence from 10am with School Cattle Ring, as well as the Show Jumping from 11am.

Whilst Friday’s action is light-on with action, Saturday’s schedule will be jammed packed full of excitement. On Saturday, the pavilion will open from 8am, with Horse Rings starting from 8:30am. From there, Cattle Judging will commence at 9am, Sheep Judging at 9:30am, and then Kids Corner will open at 10am.

All Master and Miss Junior Showgirl entrants must be received by 10:30am, with judging to take place at 11am – the same time the Wood Chopping events start.

At 3pm, the showpiece of the Spring Time Show will occur, with the Grand Parade to take place in the Centre Ring, closely followed by the Official Opening at 3:30pm which will entail the presentation of the Young Woman 2022. A performance from Dance with Miss Em’s class will take place at 4:15pm, followed by a Pet Show at 4:45pm.

The night time entertainment will commence from 5pm which will include Dog High Jump at 6pm, and the Pavilion Auction at 6:45pm.

The 134th Murrumburrah Harden Spring Time Show will wrap up with an impressive fireworks display at 7:30pm.

There will also be bar facilities between 11am and 8pm during the Spring Time Show, which is proudly operated by Can Assist Harden. Andrew Jones, President of the Murrumburrah Harden Show Society, is excited for the show to return following last year’s cancellation due to Covid and an online edition of the show in 2020. “It’ll be good to actually have an event after missing out on those two years, but it’ll be good to actually have something,” Jones said.

“So far, the support we’ve had for this year has been pleasing. The schedule’s have gone out to the public and have had a good following.

It’ll be a pretty good event I think. “The first year of Covid we did have fireworks.

Last year at the Christmas Fair after we had that big storm we managed to have the fireworks then, so it’ll be good to have a full planned show day with the fireworks at the end of the day. “We tried to keep things as simple as we could this year after having two years out.

We don’t have too many new additions to the show to make it run smoothly. We’re looking to introduce a few more new things next year.”

Jones said the ticket sales are faring well with interest especially peaked this year. “Compared to 2019, the number of schedules printed have actually doubled as to how many have gone out.

We only have about 20 left. I think it’s going to be pretty well supported by the town considering the initial support.

“We’ve already got people calling up wondering how to enter their dogs into the Dog High Jump as there’s a bit of prize money around that.” Andrew said there is a wet weather plan in place regarding all of the recent inclement weather in the region in recent weeks.

“There is always a contingency plan in place because it always seems to rain on Murrumburrah Harden Show day. We’re going to have the dancers in a marquee and the grand opening in there as well.

We’ve got plans in place if things do turn inclement.

The fireworks will go ahead even if there’s rain, so it will go ahead no matter what.”

Admission to the event will cost adults $10 per ticket, $5 for aged pensioners and students, $25 for a family ticket of two adults and two kids, while a membership to the Murrumburrah Harden Show Society Inc. will cost $25.

Make sure you get out to the Murrumburrah Harden Showgrounds next Friday and Saturday in what is sure to be a fantastic event.
