Last Saturday, the She Devils were off to the home of the weevil/red back. West Wyalong putting on the weather for a glorious lady’s day and a great day for some running rugby.
The seasons’ bus trip and the ladies were keen to get at it.
Having not such a good warmup due to being a bit behind, the girls were sent out after a few wise words and told to do their thing.
The first quarter and everything was a bit flat.
A lack of ball and some penalties against us and the ladies were looking out of character.
Finally, after some good work from our forwards and some slick work from our backs, George was over.
West Wyalong struck back through some solid work and put the She Devils on notice that they were going to be in it.
2nd quarter and a bit more ball and the ladies in red had crossed again.
From here it went all quiet on the western front.
A fair bit of back and forward and some solid defence from both sides.
A penalty from 35 out on the buzzer of half-time and the She Devils had the lead 13-5.
At half-time it was certain that one half of the super coaching staff was on his way to having a heart attack.
A few words of encouragement and the girls were back out.
Coming out of the blocks strong and some big barnstorming runs from our forwards and the She Devils we’re back on the front foot.
Scrums looked unreal this week and missing two of our forwards was pleasing to see.
A bit more back and forth and Jordo had an absolute blinder of a run to cross under the posts.
Heading into the final quarter, She Devils up 20-12 and the girls needed to create something.
Off the first bit of game plan all day, Anna managed to cross over for her first try of the season.
She Devils took the chocolates 25-12 on a very gritty win. Credit must go out to all of the girls. We managed to grind one out and although it wasn’t pretty it has given us all a reason to keep working hard into the finals.
This weekend, the She Devils will play host to the Boorowa Goldilocks for our ladies day and the final round game of the season.
We hope to see everyone there for what will be a blinder of a game.
