Sammy, Jade and Brooke Emms are all state soccer stars with each of them earning huge achievements in soccer which make up for an impressive family.

Last week the girls competed in Bathurst as part of the Open Girls Combined High Schools (CHS) competitions Riverina Squad.

Sammy was selected from there to play in the NSW All Schools Tournament representing the state next month.

The three girls live and breathe soccer, spending most of their time travelling, training or playing the sport when not studying or spending time with their family or friends.

The dedication each of them have to the game is reflected by their impressive achievements, marking themselves as a golden Riverina trio. Cindy West, the girl’s mother, explains how the girls got their start in soccer,

“When they were younger, the school team in primary school was short and didn’t have enough players. One of Sammy’s friends volunteered to help the school team by asking them to join. They loved it so they joined the soccer club the next season. They’ve just progressed from there.”

“They are always playing soccer. We do sometimes have to remind them that it’s okay to switch off and take a day off.”

The CHS 2022 was the first time in the history of the competition that both the girls and the boys played at the same venue at the same time.

The Riverina team the girls played in placed 8th on the day with Sammy Emms winning MVP for the team.

“They really love it. It’s a very fast paced tournament, this style of football that’s played there is a lot higher than what they might necessarily play in their weekend games.”

“Although they do play in the National Premier League in Canberra, so Sammy and Jade who are now more accustomed to that style of play. To go to a tournament like that is really eye opening to see girls their age performing like that.”
