Walking through the doors on Saturday night would welcome anyone who grabs their ticket with a portal into all things Australia at the Harden Mechanics Institute Hall.

Bright team colours, flamboyant Aussie icons and dress ups of the most famous Australian names sat at their tables as they butted heads and competed to find which group had the most knowledge of our country.

The event organised by the Education Foundation is a yearly fundraiser and every year chooses a different theme for people to have a bit of a laugh and attend. Georgia Loitertron, spokesperson for the Education Foundation, loved the energy the night had, “We kicked off at about 6:30pm. We were at full capacity which was awesome. It’s the first one we’ve held in the post- COVID era. Everyone was really excited to be able to get back into it. These have always had a really good reputation for being really fun and very exciting. There’s always great prizes and a really good atmosphere.”

“People have missed that.

“We were meant to hold one a couple of years ago and obviously couldn’t so it’s good to be back.

“The vibe in the lead up and even in the days when we were setting up and people were coming in, decorating their tables and organising, you could tell everyone was ready and really pumped for it.”

The winners of the night were the Bunyip table that dressed as The Wiggles. They won both the best dressed and took the trivia component out for a clean sweep.

“With the theme being Aussie, people could interpret that how they wanted, whether it be an AFL team, or the New South Wales blues. We had people come as iconic Australians, we had a table of Dame Edna’s.”

“We had over 200 people. It was a very satisfying turn out. People were really excited to let their hair down again.”

Lot’s of beer was flowing and wigs were thrown around as each team buckled down and had a post-COVID night to remember.
