The MLHD excellence award winners are held in great esteem and praised for their contribution to the health industry.
“These awards celebrate the achievements of our staff.
Those exceptional people who have created and continue to uphold our values of excellence, innovation, and collaboration,” said Millicent Brown who co-hosted the event.
Murrumburrah Harden Health Service Manager Kerry Menz nominated Sheryl Waldron for the Executive Director Nursing and Midwivery excellence award, who was then announced the winner of the MLHD category.
The award publicly recognises and acknowledges the significant contribution of nurses and midwives to improving health outcomes of the community through their professional practice and commitment to nursing.
Sheryl will receive $1,500 for being awarded as the Nurse of the Year, to be used towards her professional development.
“The award goes to a nurse who has demonstrated excellence in leadership and recognises an outstanding nurse in the MLHD,” the MLHD statement said.
“A nurse leader is someone who exemplifies what it is to be a professional nurse while upholding the professional standards motivating and providing support to others and always being focused on outcomes for consumers.
“Sheryl has been employed as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Aged Care at Harden since 2004.
“She is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Aged Care Quality Standards in consultation with the Facility Manager.
“Residents and their families frequently provide positive feedback on how welcoming and caring Sheryl is, particularly when settling a resident into their new lifestyle.
“Sheryl takes the time to understand the residents and customise their care.
“Her positive approach to her role is infectious. She is highly regarded by her peers, and management team.
“Sheryl has a can-do attitude, assisting staff and ensuring consumer care is the priority always.”
The Twin Towns should feel lucky to have an outstanding woman of Sheryl’s calibre working for our local health service.
