Dominika Longbottom of Table and Delights has been named as a finalist for the 2021 AusMumpreneur Awards in the Remote & Rural Business Award and the Multicultural Business Excellence Award category.
The AusMumpreneur Awards presented by The Women’s Business School celebrate and recognize Australian Mums in business achieving outstanding success in areas such as business excellence, product development, customer service and digital innovation. The awards are designed to recognize the growing number of women who successfully balance motherhood and business in a way that suits their life and family.
Dominika is Polish, she is 41 years of age with 3 beautiful children and married to Harden Country Club General Manager Chris Longbottom. She moved to Australia to be with her husband in December of 2014. With a background in Commercial Law in the Banking Sector, Dominika was trying to find some new inspiration and business ideas. She wanted to explore her creative and artistic site. Table and Delights was created 15 months ago. The business view was to create, plan and cater events. After receiving all the approvals (including council) for NSW the first lock down started. Dominika quickly had to change the business plan and adapt to the “new normal”. Dominika firstly offered grazing boxes to the community which opened a new door in the lock down period as people in regional areas could share their thoughts and feelings with the loved ones which they couldn’t visit at that time. As restrictions eased Dominika started to create small events and offer glamping in the local area. The Business name became popular very quickly because the services offered by Dominika apart from high quality are unique to the regional area.
Living in a different country and speaking a different language is not easy. Dominika wanted to use her skills and make herself busy and occupied and the same time help the community and create something new.
She is delighted to be named as a finalist and is proud of her achievements, particularly making her business known in a regional area. This success based only on the service provided by her to customers (no network, friends, etc due to being new residents) and organising a fundraiser for two local charities (Dominika organized a Black Tie Event) raising $15k.
There are many benefits to balancing business and motherhood as Dominika explains, “Being a mumpreneur allows me the best of both worlds. Being able to show my daughters that I am capable as well as being able to share my time and efforts with them and for them.”
It can be challenging to be a successful businesswoman whilst raising a family and Dominika gives this advice for others thinking about starting their own enterprise.” Plan what you want to do and then have the courage to follow through on your plans and dreams”.
