There is genius art and there is also idiotic art.

Pictured below in the background of the photo is Heesco’s brilliance with the completed painting of our silos.

In the same image is a contrast of stupidity and sheer disrespect with graffiti plastered underneath the bridge in Murrumburrah.

Tags included words of profanity, drug-related slang, a smirked face and king icon, as well as one tag spelling out “ftp”.

The radical deed extended in the area and onto CanAssist’s ‘The Corridor of Life’ signage as well as one of the seats.

The black spray ink spelled out “King”.

Members and committee members of CanAssist Harden were both disappointed and heartbroken when they found out the disrespectful act, especially after they had raised more than $10,000 at the Charity Bowls Day two weekends ago.

“Disgusted and very disheartening,” President Carol Barker said.

“The community has been great with CanAssist, providing us with money and supporting everything we do.

“The money we had left over we put it towards ‘The Corridor of Life’ and to see the state of it now, it hurts.”

‘The Corridor of Life’ was a fundraiser project where memories of people from the community who have since passed on from cancer, could be remembered.

It is also a spot for those currently going through their own journey to utilise.

CanAssist Harden members indicated that an expert has been engaged to assist in the clean up of the graffiti tags, almost immediately after they found out of the tags.

“This is going to cost CanAssist money and no doubt they’ll [the expert] will do it for nothing but we are not expecting them to do it for nothing,” a CanAssist Harden spokesperson said.

It is estimated that nationally, local governments spend approximately $260 million a year removing graffiti, an Inner West Council Graffiti Management Policy reports.

And according to Oxford Dictionary, a “King” is a person that is thought to be the best or most important of a particular type.

But, there will be nothing honourable when the day arrives for these morons to pay for their crimes.

Hilltops Council has just updated The Times that it has an ongoing agenda to check on Council assets for any graffiti tags, on a regular basis.

This includes cleaning up graffiti at parks, gardens, bridges, any playground and skate park to name a few.

CanAssist Harden’s signage and seat being Council property, qualifies for that clean up.
