Our older community often pop in the pizza and kebab store and have a chat with owners George and Claudia Atallah (pictured) as well as staff members.
For the kids it is their favourite go-to shop after school and many older generations can agree with that too.
The Atallahs took over the reins in February 2020 and have continued to
grow the store’s reputation including a promotional video this year which has reached over 17,400 views.
But unfortunately, as of last Saturday, the shop had to indefinitely close its doors due to Claudia’s personal health reasons.
The iconic pizza shop has never been closed previously in its 38 years history.
Since the Atallahs announced the news on the shop’s Facebook page, community support has been nothing short of overwhelming.
“From when we first opened, they backed us up. Now with the shop shut, the town have been understanding and said family and health comes first,” Claudia said.
“We didn’t realise we had so many people backing us.”
Since coming onboard at the start of the year, Claudia made changes to the pastry and customers are fond of the hamburgers too.
Regulars that come in are aware of Claudia’s impact in the kitchen but since her recent absence, staff members have stepped up.
“I have amazing staff at the shop and I couldn’t do it without them,” Claudia said.
“When I got sick they all stepped in and did more than their part, they kept us afloat.”
The Atallahs are taking it month-by-month at the moment and despite
uncertainties on re-opening, Claudia is optimistic on a “bigger and better”
re-opening soon.
