The twin town community will have an opportunity to contribute to the bushfire relief effort in the area with Harden IGA accepting donations on behalf of the communities of Tumut, Adelong Batlow and Tumbarumba.

Store manager Glenn Woodward said, “We want to help those affected by the bushfires and those in bushfire prone areas up the hill. We will be running a non perishable food appeal for the next 2 weeks, commencing today and continuing on until Friday January 17.”

Fires have caused extensive damage over the last 2 weeks to thousands of hectares in the region with the township of Batlow losing 20 homes on Saturday.

The twin town community are urged to make a non perishable donation at the store which will be taken up to Tumut at the end of the week. Bottled water, baby items, canned foods and dried goods would be appreciated.

Drop into the store and make a donation of goods to help out those affected or alternatively residents can also place monetary donations in tins starting Tuesday morning January 7.


Harden IGA have kicked off the appeal with a large donation of bottled water, with 80, 24 packs donated by the business.
