Bombdiggity lost no support from his admirers when he was just pipped at the post on Saturday at Royal Randwick. The 4 year old gelding by Zoustar ran an electric 1000 metre race in the Class 3 Tab Highway.

Locally owned by Peter Joseph, Scott Henman, Greg and Mary Briggs, Jamie and Kathy Brown and Debbie Collins. The Scott Collings trained Bobdiggity received $13,750 for the excellent showing.

He has now recorded 3 wins, a 2nd and a 3rd placing from his 8 starts. Prize money has pipped $56,115.

Bomdiggity jumped well and took a seat in second place on the outside.

At the turn he took a slender lead over Tallis. With 125 metres to go Bombdiggity surged ahead. With 25 metres to go and roughly 4 strides left, More Euros pipped him on the post to win by .2 lengths

Part owner Nathan Schofield said, “It was mapped out pretty well with him just under 3 weeks between runs and the 3 weeks kept him pretty fresh for the 1000 metres.”

Nathan drove down with son Brody on Saturday after meeting up with connections in Goulburn.

With Australia’s premier jockey, Hugh Bowman on board, a big showing was expected of Bombdiggity and he didn’t disappoint.

Nathan said, “We watched the horse parade and then we went under the track and up into the owner’s enclosure. We watched the race from there and got pretty excited towards the end. The winner did well watching the replay he came from a long way back. We gave it 4 kilos we had 59 and it had 54.

Nathan and Brody met up with Bowman after the race who said he would be happy to get on Bombdiggity again.

Brody asked Bowman if he could have his whip. Bowman said, “I can’t give you my whip but you can have my goggles.”

Nathan said Bowman then signed Brody’s Harden Picnic Races hat for him and chatted to owners.

Connections received a positive report from the stable the next day and will now be turning their attention to December 28 over 1100 metres at Randwick in another Tab Highway race.

Nathan said, “We were competitive this time and proved that he belongs in that company.”
