Harden men, Riley Manwaring 23 and his brother Will 21, are heading in to the Group 9 Reserve Grade Grand Final this Sunday at McDonald’s Park in Wagga.

Riley has been playing in the Centres and as a utility while Will has found himself closer to the rough stuff in the Second Row for the Cherry Pickers.

The Manwarings have spent the last few years at Young with Riley entering his 3rd year and Will his 4th after completing U18s.

Riley and Will are playing with their mates and are enjoying the Reserve Grade competition.

Will said, “We get in there when we need to and train hard, Riley said, “It has been very welcoming. The competition is pretty fast and a few ex First Graders who know how to hurt you try to.”

The side finished minor premiers and had the week off before they were defeated 28-12 by Gundagai. They then beat South City 30-4 to make the Grand Final against the Tigers.

Both Riley and Will are somewhat of a package and enjoy being able to play together. When asked if they would return to Harden at some stage they said they would do what the other wanted.

Will took Rugby League up at Yass in the U16s while Riley played 13s and 14s League at Harden. He then went on to have a stint with Junior Rugby before playing First Grade for the Hawks.

When asked what the best thing is about playing in the same side, Will joked, “I look after him.”

Riley said, “We have always wanted to do it and we get to play on the same side. I like watching Will get bounced off a few tackles.”

Best of luck to the Manwaring brothers against Gundagai on Sunday.

Kick off is at 1:30pm.
