Burrangong Picnic Race Club Young was unsuccessful in gaining funding for a disabled toilet.

Just 1 project from 43 was successful in receiving funding in the Cootamundra Electorate in the Sate Government’s recent, My Community Project.

It appears the funding has dried up in Local Member Steph Cooke’s electorate with 42 projects missing out, from disabled toilets at Burrangong to learner driver courses at Temora. Soft landings at Murringo School to RSL Roofing at Coolamon. Seating at Grenfell to Busking Championships at Gundagai.

The NSW Government is investing a total of $24.7 million in projects in communities across NSW.

How Votes Were Calculated

My Community Project uses a preferential voting system. This vote counting system gives points for each preference. Voters were asked to choose between 3 and 5 projects in order of preference.

Projects with the highest number of points in each electorate received funding. However, there are 93 electorates in NSW and 248 projects were funded.

The program received  61,437 people voting for their favourite projects. With 248 projects receiving support from their community to be funded.

The successful project was $200,000 for the Junee Regional Adventure Park. According to the website and the author of the project, “The Adventure Playground will provide parents and grandparents with opportunity to engage their children in an outdoor activity that will offer various health and wellbeing benefits, contributing significantly to the overall development of the children. Inclusion of an Ngumba-Dal Learning Community and sensory play area with a special purpose swing for those with disabilities completes the project. The project provides an ideal venue for families to interact.

The project promotes physical activity for young children living in and visiting the town, at a facility that is of a high standard. It will provide hours of entertainment for our younger community members. The playground will encourage families to venture outdoors and to play together, resulting in children improving their overall physical health, developing their social and problem-solving skills, promoting creativity and meanwhile, having lots of fun!”
