The Murrumburrah-Harden Show will have 2 local ladies in the Miss Showgirl competition at this Saturday’s show.

20 year old Katia Manton and 18 year old Deanna Minogue will be taking part in the event with the winner and runner up announced at the Show.

Katia is a Jugiong local and went to Murrumburrah High School before pursuing a career in teaching.

She is currently studying a Bachelor of Education, K to 12, majoring in Biology at Charles Sturt University in Wagga. She also spends her time working hard at the Long Track Pantry in Jugiong and she plays soccer for Tolland. Her main position is centre back where she also captains the reserve grade side. She is looking forward to the swimming season where she will also teach local children how to swim and coach at the Jugiong Swimming Club.

In year 12 she was a Captain of Murrumburrah High School.

Katia said, “I was asked around late July if I would enter. I thought I may as well give it a go, the showgirls said it would be an amazing experience. I’ve learnt a lot of things which will help me as a teacher. I would like to thank the show community and the wider community. The donations made to Louis Abnett on the night were great, it was around $600.”

18 year old Deanna Minogue is in year 11 at Murrumburrah High School and has spent all of her high schooling at MHS. She said, “I like a mix of Drama and Biology. Linda Jones and Jamie Whybrow came to school and gave a talk about Showgirls. My Grandfather passed away in June and he was really close to Linda. Linda asked me if I would like to do it and I knew my Grandfather would be angry if  I said no to Linda. I’m doing it in honour of my Grandfather.”

Deanna has enjoyed the process so far and has met a lot of new people. “It’s been absolutely amazing, meeting new people and hearing what they have to say about the show, meeting people in our community has been fun.” Deanna is the younger sister of Maggie-Kate Minogue who is also a former student of MHS. She said, “I’m always trying to better myself by doing more homework and I like to spend time with my family. At the moment I’m hoping to go to CSU in Wagga  and do a Bachelor of Nursing.”

Deanna has worked at the Chinese Restaurant in Neill Street for the last 7 months and enjoys the work, “They are fantastic.”

Both ladies attended the Showgirl dinner on Saturday night where guests listened to both Katia and Deanna in anticipation of the Show.

Best of luck to both ladies.
