Kai Steele heads towards the boundary after scoring 100 runs against Bookham in the 2017/2018 Grand Final.  He led the Hornets to a great win.

The Harden Hornets Cricket Club will be meeting up with fellow delegates from the Yass District Cricket Association next week, as the Association beds down certain facets of this years 2019/2020 season.

A number of items were discussed at last week’s AGM including the competition format and the grades. It is likely that a similar format will be held this season, with A and B Grades and a C Grade format for the finals series.

Paul Barnes Secretary of YDCA said, “Chris Bradley has taken on the President role. It’s really exciting from my perspective getting some new blood into the committee. Chris has played for the Yass Golf Club for quite a few years and still plays now.”

Paul stepped into the Secretary role after 2 years as President. He said, “My role is more off field than on field now, in the last 5 years I have scaled back from playing and more into administration.”

The Hornets currently play in the 40 over format with the Association looking for a mid October start for this year’s season. Paul said, “We don’t really like to start the season during the school holidays. The 12th of October is the most likely date, if we start any later than that, it gets a bit tricky at the back end of the season.”

Tim Doolan Oval in Harden is one of the premier grounds in the competition and has limited time spent on it during the winter months.  The Harden Junior Hawks only use it for their junior sides meaning the outfield is in pretty good nick and only needs water dumped on it in the near future. The turf wicket will need work to start soon so that it will be ready for the first matches in the middle of October.

The draw will not be completed until closer to the start date.
