21 year old Harden Hawkette Emma James has taken out the Best and Fairest Award for the 3rd year running in the Specsavers George Tooke Shield League Tag competition.
James has cemented herself as the competition’s premier player and helped guide the competition’s premier side, the Hawkettes to victory on Saturday. James kicked 5 from 5 in a stellar performance, 4 conversions and a penalty goal in Harden’s 26-4 victory. The win booked the maroon and whites a Grand Final berth in 2 week’s time. It wasn’t an easy win for Harden and Crookwell made it difficult for the Hawkettes for the first-half, before our ladies went on to claim victory.
In regards to the award, Emma said, “I was quite surprised to win this award, it was a big achievement and a great feeling winning the Best and Fairest for the 3rd consecutive year, especially representing my team, family and our town. It’s a great reward for the hard work put in throughout the year. I’d like to thank my family, team mates and Polly (Coach) for allowing me to do so. My main focus now is on preparing for the grand final.”
James finished the season with 10 tries from 15 matches and 93 goals.
On 2 occasion she kicked 8 goals and on another 3 occasions she kicked 9 goals. Her best was 11 goals and 2 tries against Gunning.
Emma’s 2018 season saw her kick 108 goals and score 8 tries.
