Maliyan Horizon opened their new head office in Cootamundra on Monday. Maliyan is a civil construction, project management and machinery hire business which has established itself in the area with the expectation of providing work opportunities for both the aboriginal and wider community. Those attending the Grand opening were greeted with a Welcome to Country by Peter Beath.
Managing Director Emma Muller said “I’m proud to announce we’ve been successful with our tender for the Newell Highway upgrade which is great and will generate many more new jobs.” The Acting prime Minister said, “The inland rail will transform regional Australia to get product from inland to port in 24 hours,” with Maliyan having already made a start last week near Forbes on the Newell Highway project. Maliyan is also a finalist for the national awards at the Aboriginal Enterprises in Mining, Energy and Exploration conference in Darwin next week.
Maliyan was established to deliver on two core business objectives – creating employment opportunities for regional communities and providing a high quality service to clients. Maliyan, not only provide highly experienced civil and construction services to regional and remote areas but to materialise the values and social impacts the company strives to achieve. Maliyan is a Wiradjuri word for Eagle, which is symbolic for protector.. ‘protector on the horizon’ and the company believe it is very fitting and in line with the company values. Director Luke Penrith also a artist, designed and painted the artwork that is inside the eagle on the logo.
The painting represents the coming together as one united front. Currently Maliyan has just under 40 employees in the Riverina, with anticipated growth of a further 12 positions over the next 2 months. Cootamundra was one of 3 locations the company were looking at for their head office location. It’s a central location that will bring full time and casual opportunities to Cootamundra. The Cootamundra office offers a Machinery Hire facility.

They will be targeting, challenging and requesting Councils and large corporate companies across the region for trials to maintain their footpaths, kerbs, roadside verges, parks and playgrounds. Health and welfare is becoming more and more evident in ways of old habits in weed system management now proven by many long term trials on suspect cancer causing agents on long term results.
