Sam Emms has returned from The Football Federation of Australia National Youth Championships where she represented the NSW Country side in the girls 15 years age group. The competition was held at the International Stadium at Coffs Harbour from July 15 to 19 with teams from each of the State Federations of the FFA competing.
The competition ran over the 5 days with a game being played each day and points tallied at the end of the week. Sam’s NSW Country team won the Group B division. They won outright on points and also had the best goal difference for the week. Sam had been the shadow keeper for this team for two years in a row, however, this tournament she was able to be the first choice Goal Keeper.
This was a great achievement and one that she has worked really hard towards. Cindy said, “They played teams from all over Australia. She will continue with her club football and all of the tournaments lead towards a chance to be asked to trial for the Australian team but she is not holding her breath.
We just have to wait and see now. She got to play against the leading girls in her age in the country.” Sam entered camp and travelled as a team. Cindy said, “It was a really good experience for her.” Sam will continue to play her club football in Wagga, with the Wanderers and will continue to train 3 nights a week.
