Restricted Access Reminder Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council (CGRC) reminds heavy vehicle operators of their obligations when travelling on roads across the Region. Information from the Roads and Maritime Services (RMS), South West Region Operations Team, received recently has highlighted overloading on bridges across the Region, including some bridges on council roads. Ageing bridges are a particular concern. Overloaded vehicles have the potential to lead to the sudden closure of critical bridges and transport links, which is why load restrictions have been introduced to some structures to protect them from further issues. As part of an RMS strategy to remind the heavy vehicle industry of their obligations, an information sheet has sent to heavy vehicle operators. It has also been sent to RMS heavy vehicle inspectors who will distribute the information to operators as need be. The information sheet contains a link to the Roads and Maritime’s Restricted Access Map: www.rms.nsw.gov.au/restrictedaccess. Operators are reminded it is an offence to travel on routes that are unapproved for the combination they are using.
