Steph Abra for the Jersey Girls.

Having lost their round one clash on May 11, the Jersey Girls were keen to turn around their 38-0 loss against the Crookwell She-Devils, and that they did.

They didn’t manage to win the match against the second placed Crookwell side but they acquitted themselves very well.

New player Steph Abra was pivotal in this game as was Marnie Pack who mixed up the girls play nicely. The Binalong girls had to execute a line drop-out in the 8th minute which resulted in a Crookwell try and a lead of 6-0.

Spurred on by Coach Craig Phillis, daughters Hannah, Taylah and Cara led the Jersey Girls well against a superior league tag side. Abbie Selwyn was again good but the star of the show was Steph Abra and then Hannah Phillis who made a magnificent line-break in the opening minutes, however the girls were down 10-0 at half time.

When the second half opened, the visitors were forced into yet another line drop-out which resulted in a try to Crookwell. But the Jersey Girls resisted all attempts to breach their line until the final minutes when the She-devils scored a converted try to run out winners 20-0. Cherrae Smith and Coco Adam contributed to halving the deficit from round one, such is their improvement.
