Murrumburrah High Year 11 student Jayden Nicholls isn’t your standard teenager. Jayden and his partner Ashley Hall from Parkes have set up their own cattle stud “Jaylee” and have already won some impressive awards.
After registering the stud in November 2013 the pair had immediate success and took out Reserve Champion Female at the Henty Show. They went on to claim Senior Champion Angus Bull and Reserve Champion Angus Female at the Bathurst Royal Show over the 2, 3 and 4th of May.
Ashley attends Redbend College in Forbes with the duo travelling plenty of kilometres for their relationship and the business. Both Jayden and Ashley share a love for the industry of which Jayden says he can attribute to his time spent with the Murrumburrah High School Farm Club, which he has been a member of for the last 3 years.
Jayden isn’t the only talented parader in the family with younger brother Jonathan taking out the Grand Champion Belted Galloway at the Bathurst Show. This was the Bulls last show and he will be retired to stud by owner Jason Astbury.
Jayden said he and Ashley have started off their operation with 22 head of cattle and will look to increase these numbers in the near future. The next major show they will attend will be the Parkes Show in August where they hope to continue their success.
The Twin Town Times wishes them all the best and it is great to see young people in the town take a chance and succeeding.
