The Harden Murrumburrah Rotary Club held their annual changeover dinner on Monday night at the Terracotta Restaurant in Murrumburrah, hosted by Mick and Anne Burns.

Outgoing President Robert Scott thanks his fellow Rotarians for another great year and passed the mantle on to Pat O’Connor.

Pat is looking forward to continuing on with the good work Robert has achieved in the 2018/2019 year.

The new committee includes Ron Spelmen, Robert Woodhead, Nicole and Robert Scott, Mark O’Connor, Rita O’Connor,  Robert Fitzpatrick and Jim Ryan.

The night included a number of special guests who spoke to the Rotarians present about their roles in the community. Rotary Assistant Governor Director from the Rotary Club of Boorowa, Julie Poplin was in attendance as was Police Superintendent Christopher Schilt who is the District Commander of the Hume District which includes the Harden area. His presentation included crime in the area and the Police Forces strategy to combat that crime.

The crime rate in the Harden area is relatively low according to Superintendent Schilt.

He said “Our local Harden Police Officers are always there if you have any issues to discuss.”

The  ‘Rotarian of the Year’ title was awarded to Hilltops Councillor John Horton. John is active in the community and also plays Piano Accordion to those in the retirement village.

The Harden Rotary Club meet every Monday night and their home base is the well-known Terracotta Restaurant at 6:30pm
