James Wallis scored 2 well deserved tries for the Devils on Saturday in their 42 point win. The Harden Red Devils were glad to be back at Robert’s Park and set to take on old foes, Grenfell. The Devils put on a masterclass against the men from the north which resulted in a 47-5 scoreline. The flood gates opened early and were unable to be shut by Grenfell who had few answers for the Harden men. The score line was not reflective of the hard fought contest provided by the Panthers, who managed to stiffen up their defence in the second half and make a good contests of it.

The Devils score card reads, Tries; James Wallis x2, Tom Lenehan, Ben Lenehan, Johnny Manchester, Rory Bolger and Jim Honner.  Ben Lenehan had a good day with the boot kicking 6/7. Goal kicking will certainly come into play against the better performing sides, with Lenehan able to slot them from all over the park. There is a lot of improving for the Devils to do around scrums and line outs. The Devil’s strength is currently in their commitment and their ability to bounce up off the deck and make another effort in the contest.

If Toby Hayden can go up like a pin in the line out and and lower his body height when going in to contact, he will become a very good second rower in this competition.

Shahid Khalfan was everywhere in both attack and defence and he bounced from the ground like a tennis ball and even flirted with the sideline in a wonderful display of athleticism.

James Wallis has matured into a dynamic Flanker and wins the ball and backs up in attack. He scored an excellent try, when he bumped off a defender and flew over the southern try line.

Harry Sachs said, “They went really well, the home ground advantage got them going it was good to watch.” Points were awarded to; 3 points Jeremy Martin, 2 points James Wallis, 1 Point Jim Honner, Players Player Toby Haydon. The Harden men will be playing West Wyalong at West Wyalong on Saturday. Oh it’s flat and red out there.
