Don’t Hide Your Business Behind a Paywall.

The Times continues to tell some of the success stories from the Harden District Education Foundation, HDEF.

Zoe Woods

I commenced my studies in 2015 at Charles Sturt University and completed with a Bachelor of Agricultural Business Management in December 2017. I received a very generous scholarship over my first two years from the Harden District Education Foundation that assisted in funding my accommodation fees. I was required to be on campus 4-5 days a week, and living 130km from campus would have made juggling study time, part time work and personal life very difficult. By living on campus I had access to all facilities! There was internet, a 24 hour library, academic progress assistance, free gym, study, sporting and social clubs, and part time work opportunities. Without the assistance of HDEF I would not have been able to afford University life on my own. Going to University was something I wanted to do independently, without parental support and to help me understand the value of money so thank you for making my dream come true HDEF! Since graduating I attained an accounting role close to my home town and have returned to study my Masters of Professional Accounting at CSU. Long term, I hope I can combine my two degrees to help give back to my local community through a range of financial services.

The Harden District Education Foundation assisted in helping me to be able to transition from TAFE in my gap year to university. Completing a certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance at TAFE and then going to university to pursue a career in Speech Pathology, was a significant change, especially financially. The HDEF funds helped in buying textbooks, paying rent and weekly expenses such as groceries. The funds are greatly appreciated as they take the edge off financial pressures so I could focus on study.
