Last Saturday afternoon saw the Hilltops Choir enjoying a masterclass with Keiren Brandt-Sawdy, musical director of the touring Sydney Male Choir. This was organised by Hilltops Choir’s own musical director, Rodney Clancy. It was a great opportunity for the choir to sing and hear another conductor emphasizing the importance of vowel pronunciation and blending of voices. Later that evening the Sydney Male Choir, together with Hilltops Choir, entertained an appreciative audience at the Young Town Hall with a combined repertoire of Broadway musical numbers, classical, sacred, spiritual and quirky fun tunes. A special thank you must go to the two accompanists – Dewi Liu from Sydney and Stewart Bruce from Harden – providing solid support for all the choristers. If you would like to join the Hilltops Choir, please come along to a rehearsal and check us out. We meet on Monday nights 7.30 – 9.30 pm in the Uniting Church Hall at Young. For enquiries, contact secretary Tracey Clark on 0418 672 622.
