Riverina Landcare Strategic Plan 2023 Project

This project is an initiative of the Regional Landcare Facilitator Program and is hosted by Murrumbidgee Landcare Inc. It aims to:

  • Develop a 5-year strategic plan for landcare in the Riverina
  • Provide a roadmap for everyone involved in this space

Landcare as a grass roots organisation has been around in the Riverina for almost 30 years. It’s time for a refresh.  With the launch of the Regional Landcare Facilitator Program almost 3 years ago and more recently the appointment of local landcare coordinators, there is a lot of goodwill for stakeholders to come together now and further develop productive partnerships.

This project is not about replicating services but about working together to develop a shared vision and a collective ‘working better together’ model. There is a buzz in the air about the project’s potential. We are shouting out to our community and are keen to engage them in conversations as part of focus groups and there is a survey for people who can’t attend one of those.

Five focus groups are being held across the Riverina in the first week in May.  They are being held in Hay, Leeton, Murrumburrah, Adelong, Humula and Henty and will be independently facilitated. They are all about bringing people together to have their say about advancing landcare across the Riverina, and discussing how we can better work together – landcare groups, industry, local government, education, arts etc.

Focus Groups will explore a collective model for setting a collective vision / direction, priorities and the roles of stakeholder in all supporting this. The results and outcomes will directly inform the Riverina Landcare Strategy 2023.

We encourage everyone across the Riverina to be involved.

If you can’t make the Murrumburrah meeting, see if you can make one of the other stakeholder meetings at one of the other towns.
