Local policewoman, Danielle Leseberg, has been recognized at a recent ceremony for the Cootamundra Local Area Command, held recently atEx-serviceman’s Club.
The ceremony saw Danielle recognized for her extensive service to the NSW Police Force with a National Police Service Medal, in celebration of 15 years of service. Danielle completed her training for the force on May 12, 2000, before commencing work at Deniliquin.
She completed three years of service in the rural community, meeting her husband Wes whilst there. Following her work at Deni, Danielle returned to the Police Academy, this time teaching recruits weapons for a period of three years. A return to service in field was calling, and Danielle soon found herself working general duties for the Yass Police, from 2007.
From 2013, Danielle commenced her current position, working within the Cootamundra LAC. With the exception of a brief month-long period spent in Sydney directing traffic for the Olympic Games, Danielle has spent her entire policing career in the bush, and she can definitely see the difference. She says that those police, who start their career in the country, are destined to remain there (not that she considers this a bad thing, by any means). “It’s a different type of police out here, you’re a member of the community, you’re policing your own community,”
Danielle said. Despite her extensive amount of time spent in the force, Danielle continues to enjoy the career, and the lifestyle it brings. Danielle and her husband Wes currently live in his hometown of Jugiong, a community that she loves being a part of. Wes is a candidate for the Hilltops Council elections. Our community is without a doubt, thankful to have people like Danielle keeping us safe, and making an invaluable contribution to our community.
