When describing the competition, she said, “It’s about community involvement, what sports you play, what committees you are on.
Alice is territory manager for Elanco Animal Health, with the title being Southern NSW. It covers Wagga, Bega, West Wyalong, Leeton and up to Cowra.
“It’s a big area and I spend a lot of time on the road.
“My job is managing sales within the area, all of the resellers and also looking after all of our producers. I go on farm a lot and do a lot of on farm testing, blood testing, faecal egg counts and helping our producers that are using our products or that need guidance in what to do with the worm programs or their lice programs.
“It’s just relationship management; being out and about helping people that need me.
“I have a farming background. My parents are farmers from south west Victoria.
Alice will now move on to the next stage after winning at Harden.
“From this Award I go on to Zone in February – the date to be confirmed.
She like the other ladies had to deal with an impromptu question by the judge?
“My impromptu question was ‘What I would change about the Show?’ I was so on the spot that I thought that instead of changing anything, and that we have so many things at our show already with amazing components, that instead of changing anything we work on getting more people there, especially my age group, getting them to come to the show and be present and be a part of it and help out and be on the committee.
Alice said, “It’s a great networking opportunity and a great opportunity to showcase and empower the women in Agriculture, and the women in our small towns.
Alice told the Times, “I went to Uni in Wagga and my fourth year was all Uni placement. The Animal Advisor that I was with did a visit to Oxton Park (the O’Connor family) and while I was there I thought they were really clever people in what they were doing and it was really interesting so I rang them the next day and asked them if they would employ me for the following year and they said yes.
“A couple of months later I moved down and did 18 months working for the boys out there and absolutely loved it. I fell in love with the town and now it just feels like home, I really love it here.
“I have done a degree in Agricultural Science at Uni. There are always opportunities for further study. I’m currently studying a Certificate IV in parasitology and that’s interesting. There’s opportunity in the future to do my Masters and go on and do my PHD but at the moment I’m just really enjoying learning within the company. I’m learning a lot of different skills and a lot of really specialised exposure. That side of it I’m really enjoying.
“I’m enjoying the parasitology as well, it’s tricky, but it’s really specific.
Congratulations Alice.
