Dotti Le Sage ‘Over the Hill’ Most Outstanding painting in the exhibition. Karen Ball 2023 judge.

The Murrumburrah Arts Council held the 2023 Festival of Art Exhibition and Sale throughout the second half of October with the opening night on October 20. The exhibition was open for visitors on October 21, 22, 28 and 29.

During the opening and the subsequent exhibitions, paintings were available for purchase, allowing spectators to take home a slice of the region’s creativity. The idea was to help develop and encourage local artists. Awards were also presented on the night.

The paintings were judged by Karen Ball, a Sydney based Visual Artist. Karen has 40 years experience as a practicing artist, holding a Bachelor of Visual Arts and Master of Visual Arts from the Sydney College of the Arts (University of Sydney).

Therese Crowe coordinated the event with La Reine Beal and was very proud of the work both the volunteers putting on the event and the local artists filling the venue with their creations.

“The opening last Friday night was very successful, about 50 people were in attendance and 3 paintings sold on opening night,” she said.
