The Harden Hawks went down to the Bungendore Tigers at Mick Sherd Oval on Saturday, 22-10. It signalled the end of the Hawks season and saw them fall 13 points short of playing in this Saturday’s match against Boorowa, who went down 31-30 in extra time to Crookwell, who have gone through to the GF in two week’s time.

It’s been an excellent year for Harden in a top finals race, where four, or maybe five teams, could have won the premiership at some stage. Coota played well, but just couldn’t get there, while Harden, Boorowa, Crookwell and Bungendore led the way, a pretty handy North Canberra Bears side looked the goods at the business end of the season.

It’s not to be for the Hawks in 2023, but Nick Hall and his men have been ever consistent over the last 2 years and the third year might be the charm.

Harden’s attention now turns to the females of the species, the better halves, the multi-taskers and the people who just 10 years ago had little option but to watch from the sidelines. Our women.

They have taken the spotlight in the region and in particular Harden, which is now a breeding ground for NRLW talent.

Our very own Harden WorHawks and Harden Hawkettes will be heading to Crookwell on Saturday 9 September, that is, if the first men’s side through to the GF dictates where all the finals will be held, as in previous years.

Keep an eye out for our print editions and our Website and Facebook pages, as we ramp up coverage over the next 2 weeks. More to come.
