The Harden BushHawks U14s side will be taking on the Gundagai Tigers in a two v three finals match in the top four finals scenario at Keith Cullen Oval on Saturday at 11:50am, on field two. The loser of this match is finished for the year and the same will occur for the other semi-final.

Coach Kai Steele is confident that the boys can bounce back from a recent form slump which has seen them lose their last two matches this season.

Young (one) will take on (four) in the northern pool final and will likely face the BushHawks if the local lads can get the win on Saturday.

The BushHawks side has been getting better and better over the last few seasons and they have picked up a couple of boys from other towns including three boys from Coota and another player from Young.

Kai said, “We have 17 players and another who is out for the season with a fractured bone in his leg, meaning the side has had to readjust around the ruck.”

“We have come from a team which has come last a bit to making the finals last year. We were playing against Gundagai then, but it’s a different side this year.”

The 14s have continued to work on their combinations and although they aren’t the biggest side in the comp, they certainly have some star players and a can-do attitude when it comes to defence.

Kai said, “These boys, any team they come up against they are often the smallest but they really show some heart. I’m proud to coach them and I wish them well. Win or loss we will take it, it’s the first time they have finished second. It was the first time we have beaten Young and Gundagai this year and the last time we played Young they came back and beat us on the bell.”

The last two times the side has played Gundagai, they won by 12 points and then went down by six points, meaning that it will be a close match. If the boys can get in and tackle, they have the ability to see some of their players score a try from one end to the other and get points on the board.

Best of luck to the BushHawks on Saturday, they have the support of the town and they received a message of support from Canberra Raider Corey Horsburgh earlier in the week.
