The Harden-Murrumburrah RSL Sub-Branch has held respectful ANZAC Day commemorations, the first commencing at 6:00am with the Dawn Service.

The sun rose over the hills to the east providing a beautiful backdrop for the cenotaph as the Toll Helicopter provided those attending with their own fly over, landing on McLean Oval.

Harden Chapter Chairman Tim O’Keeffe officiated the proceedings which included the hymn ‘Abide with Me’.

Rev. David Rajasekaram then led the crowd with the 23rd Psalm, before wreaths were laid. The Ode of Remembrance was read before the Last Post and Reveille.

Hugo Sachs read out a beautiful poem.

The Prayer of Remembrance was followed by the benediction before the National Anthem was played.

Over 150 turned out for the service which was fresh due to the low temperatures, however without any wind.

Following the observance of the Dawn Service, the town prepared for the Neill Street march beginning at 10:30 am and heading towards Newson Park. The march saw some of its best numbers in years, particularly in the town’s youth despite it being the last day of school holidays.
