Nick Heywood wins on the Tim Martin-trained Sunshine Reggae at Gundagai on Sunday.

Nick Heywood was in the winner’s circle twice last week, with the local product landing victories at Orange on Friday and Gundagai on Sunday.

At Orange, Heywood teamed up with the Danny Williams-trained Montebello’s Charm ($2.25) when taking out the 1290m Maiden Handicap.

At Gundagai, Heywood rode for Tim Martin and landed a classy win on Sunshine Reggae ($2.45) in the 1000m Maiden Plate.

The two wins continue a good run for Heywood, who only returned to race riding in early March following a broken leg.

Big offer turned down for Vinolass The unbeaten and locally-owned Vinolass has been the subject of some big offers.

Canberra trainer Keith Dryden confirmed that there had been several approaches to buy the three-year-old daughter of Supido that is out of Alana’s Party, but connections quickly turned them down.

Dryden confirmed one legitimate offer of $200,000 was made, and it is apparent that the filly’s all-lady syndicate of approximately 20 owners unanimously said a ‘big fat no’.

Dryden could not confirm where he would go next with Vinolass, which has now won three races from three starts at Wagga, Canberra, and the Sapphire Coast, but if she wins again, there could be some excellent offers tabled to connections.

Spackman duo Fight Hard in the City Scott Spackman travelled to Royal Randwick on Saturday and was unsuccessful.

Following three strong wins, Mo Chara finished 13th of 16 in the 12,000m Class Three TAB Highway Handicap. Starting from gate 13, it was hard going for jockey Shaun Guymer, with the pair beaten 7.06 lengths.

Guymer also rode Rocket Tiger in the 1200m Benchmark 88 Handicap, and the Wagga galloper sat on the speed but fell away in the final furlong, finishing sixth, however, beaten by just 4.37 lengths.
