Recently, Council received a request from a Harden community member to name the bridge over Murrimboola Creek after Alexander Reid and his descendants, many of whom still have regular contact with residents of the township.
Upon discussion and consideration of the renaming, it was put on public exhibition with Community Consultation feedback flowing in during the period it was on display. The comments from the community have been considered with Council’s decision set down at yesterday’s meeting.
The public exhibition and community consultation commenced on Thursday 23 March 2023 and closed on Tuesday 4 April 2023.
The 28-day public exhibition period provided the community the opportunity to provide feedback in relation to the renaming.
The recommendations made to Council were: to receive and note the report; note Community consultation feedback results received regarding Murrumburrah Bridge naming recommendation following public exhibition for a 28-day period of consultation; note the community consultation has indicated the preference for the bridge name to be ‘Murrimboola Bridge’; and endorse proposed name as ‘Murrimboola Bridge’ following community feedback in support of the current name ‘Murrimboola Bridge’ and place on 28-Day Public Exhibition for further community consultation.
The Murrumburrah Bridge is an asset of Transport for NSW who have not objected to the naming of the bridge.
