The Harden WorHawks have claimed the George Tooke grand final with a 10-4 victory over South Coast United at Mick Sherd oval.

The physical game started with a back and forth battle between the WorHawks and South Coast.

Both teams were trying to muscle their way through the middle of the field to gain the advantage, but were unsuccessful until some late, first half brilliance from Ua Ravu gave the WorHawks the edge.

Five eight Ravu broke the line to make a breakaway 60 metre run until she was just chased down.

After being brought down Ravu dumped the ball to Mollie Hogan, who scooted around and scored.

Hogan kept the opposition honest all day with some rampaging runs down the left edge and solid defence.

The conversion sailed over the black dot and the WorHawks were up 6-0 going into the sheds at halftime.

South Coast hit back after half time with an unconverted try of their own to bring the score to 6-4.

Ua Ravu once again showed her brilliance as she crashed over for another WorHawks try, increasing their lead to 10-4.

South Coast pounded the WorHawks with big tackles and hard runs until the match ended, when South coast decided to pound the WorHawks with some punches.

A back and forth scrappy fight between the teams went on for quite awhile, with the referees doing their best to separate the teams.

After the melee settled down the Referee sent off two South Coast players and one WorHawks player. However, brutal the fight was, the WorHakws were still crowned victors of the George Tooke Blumers Lawyers Katrina Fanning Shield.

It was no surprise Ua Ravu was named player of the game, with her teammate and star player Hunter Ings praising her by saying, “she’s just unbelievable, she’s everywhere on the field, everywhere we needed her and played amazing.”

Along with winning, Hunter got to play alongside her coach and mother, Melissa Ings, who Hunter said “She played amazing, every time we needed her she would take that hit up for us and always take a run and get in most of the tackles.” With the season now over, Ings says,

“This whole team is quite amazing. We worked together and we just played together, played for each other and we knew we wanted that win so we worked together to get the win.”
