Despite the wet weather and previous hindrance from Covid, the Harden-Murrumburrah Spring Time Show made an explosive impact on a busy weekend.

Competing with sports grand finals and the Wagga Show on Saturday, there had to be a massive show to draw in the locals and keep them away from Wagga. What a spectacular show it was-finishing up with a fireworks display that will have the twin towns talking for months.

Disaster almost struck when a concerning amount of rainfall had threatened to wash out the grounds but Show Society President Andrew Jones was already prepared for it.

“This is my sixth year doing it and we’ve had one dry year out of the whole lot. It’s always wet around the Showtime,” he said. “We had a marquee set up for a bit of entertainment and then we moved on all dancers and stuff down into the pavilion.

“We would like to put a few more show rides and stuff but that’s out of our control.”

Unfortunately, due to the weather, the horse, show dogs and wood-chopping events were cancelled but that didn’t stop the fireworks show that had visitors raving for days.

“[Mr Boom Boom] puts on a good show for us and he always tries to better himself each year, but this year he has really excelled himself.

“People have commented, that they’re probably the best set of fireworks they’ve seen in a rural area.”

Mr Boom Boom is a fireworks crew from Canberra who has previously provided the show with his spectacular show.

“We still had our local dancers dancing. We had an entertainment company in Queensland come, the kids enjoyed that.

“We had the team’s challenge. All that stuff still went ahead.”

“Thank the general public for still coming in even when they have to put their gum boots on, they still come out and support us.

“That’s what makes the show, that’s why we’ll continue to try and do better next year, as long as they keep supporting.”
