Grace collecting the Louise Ferris Medal at the ACT Brumbies awards presentation last Tuesday.

Grace Kemp has cleaned up at the ACT Brumbies awards presentation last Tuesday, 6 September.

Grace took home the Louise Ferris Medal which is the top award the presentation has to offer.

Grace was “dominant on her way to victory” according to the Brumbies website even with missing a significant portion of the season due to her international duties for the Wallaroos.

The collection of the award marks the second consecutive year Grace has taken it home, with her transition to the best women’s Rugby competition in Australia being astonishing.

Though the Brumbies ladies had a rather difficult season as a whole, finishing fourth from the six teams in the Super W, Grace has been dominant once again which is exemplified by her selection to the Wallaroos.

When Grace isn’t playing for the Brumbies or Wallaroos she plies her trade playing for the Canberra Royals.

The Royals are one of Canberra’s most prestigious Rugby Union clubs, with the first-grade men’s and women’s teams both making the grand final last weekend. Unfortunately, both of the sides went down with Grace’s side losing 12-10 and the men’s team losing 27-11.

Grace is one of two Harden ladies who have made it to the big leagues with Tara McGrath-West playing in the rival code NRLW for the St George Illawarra Dragons ladies’ team this year.

Tara seems to be taking to life in the big league just as well as her Harden counterpart Grace, with Tara making the NRLW Team of the Week for the first time in her young career this past week.

In only 40 minutes on the field Tara dominated, tallying 230 run meres and 14 tackles.

Tara will look to add to the Jaw dropping performance she put together against the Broncos when her Dragons play host to the Newcastle Knights. It’s a big clash for the Dragon ladies who will look to jump the 2nd-placed Knights as they continue their surge toward finals football.

Along with Tara and Grace’s success this past year Harden also had the Harden Hawkettes and the Harden She Devils both taking home the premiership trophies in their respective competitions.

As the years go on, Harden continues to build its reputation as a breeding ground for fantastic women athletes and the Twin Town Times could not be prouder.
