I’m Ed Dodds and I’ve just started writing for the Twin Town Times and associated papers.
I’m a country born and bred and I grew up in Cumnock NSW on a livestock farm, as the youngest of four.
Whilst schooling in Orange I found a passion in Writing, Theatre, music and Sport. This led me to Charles Sturt University Bathurst to Study a bachelor of Communications.
During this time I wrote many theatrical plays and musicals, ran festivals, and even did some short stories for the community radio. Whilst studying I became heavily involved in multiple sports by playing cricket, rugby, basketball, soccer, golf, tennis and squash.
Over the last two years my goal has been to play every golf course in NSW, but alas I have a long way to go as I’m only around 35 courses.
Although I love golf, my forte is undeniably Cricket, and I look forward to taking bulk wickets with my right arm leg spin in the upcoming season.
Post university I worked at home on the farm and collaborated on an upcoming musical for Bathurst called Fast Cars and Dirty Beats.
Most recently I have been in Sydney for 6 months working as a music teacher for primary school kids in piano, drums, guitar and singing.
I was brought to the area due to my partner starting her great new grad role at Young District Hospital.
I’m really looking forward to writing for the paper as it provides a great insight into the town and its culture, as well as a way to write with a personal touch.
If you see me on the street please come up, say hello, and point me in the direction of your favourite coffee shop.
