The Binalong Community Club has done it again and has pulled off a big win for one of its members.
It is the fourth time that the club has taken out the jackpot which is run in conjunction with five other clubs.
Long-term Binalong resident Chris Glover was last Thursday’s winner, where he took out the $8,400 prize which brings the Binalong grand total to more than $35,000 this year.
The Binalong Community Club is run by a tight-knit board, and supported by an army of loyal volunteers and supporters.
The online raffle concept has seen the club witness a resurgence in patronage over the last few months, after decades of hard work, blood sweat and tears to keep the doors open on what is a fantastic facility, for the ever-growing village.
The club’s kitchen is now producing up to 80 meals on a Thursday night which is a testament to the support.
Funnily enough, members of the club have been called out on at least four other separate occasions but were not present to collect the winnings.
Club President Mick Brayshaw said, “The club having so many recent winners, we’re going really well, it’s actually a little embarrassing because along with the four winners, we had an additional four that weren’t in attendance.”
“It’s really helped with the crowds obviously with people realising you can actually win the money. It’s all the more sweeter the fact that good people are winning the money, everybody that’s won has contributed to the club in one way or another.”
Meanwhile Chris Glover was all smiles after the win.
He said, “Recently it’s been going off pretty regularly, but you never expect it to be you. I haven’t even been thinking about how to spend it, to be honest, I haven’t even cashed the cheque yet I’ve been getting over the shock factor of it.”
“It’s great that the club’s got it going again, the Jackpot clearly has a big draw, the club seems to be the busiest it’s been in a while. A lot of credit has to be given to all the volunteers, without them the club wouldn’t be still running.”
There’s a lot of excitement building round the club with ‘Dancing with the Local’s’ happening next Friday the 17th of June. All the tickets are sold out, however, you can still sponsor a team. If this interests you, head to the Binalong Community Club Facebook page and get in before it’s too late! If you’d like to be a member of the Binalong Community Club, head out and sign up.
They have a bowling green and excellent golfing facilities, along with the fact that lightning can clearly strike more than once in the same place when it comes to winning the online Jackpot.
