She devils match report RD 2. ‘Coaching staff on first and last warning before contract discussions’
In what was a refreshing afternoon down at the Devil’s Den, the Harden She Devils were chomping to take on the old foe, Temora. With a few disruptions to the team with players away and Covid, the girls pulled together a few older She Devs that have been hiding in the woodwork to have a run.
Scraping together 13 players, of which 6 had played together this year, the girls had a spring in their step. Temora showed up with 9 and credit to them, a great 9 to build something with throughout the rest of the year.
Pre game and Coach Sachs was seen noticeably nervous smoking way too many of his favoured Winnie blues.
One would think the steam trains were back running.
Kids, don’t smoke, you could end up like him!
Heading into the first 10, the girls dropped down to 9 to match play.
With our debutants Isabel and Livvy itching to get on the field, Harden started with a few older girls to get them going.
The older battlers were searching for the ice box and tape bag and the Super Coaches were run into overdrive trying to scramble to find players.
Abby ‘gorilla legs’ Perry came on and made an instant difference lifting the tempo and making some hard runs and tackles.
Old Bull Anna was solid in defence and attack and Georgia our stand in 10 was trying her heart out to create opportunities.
Slight lapses and some great forward work from Temora and She Devs were down by 7.
Some good play in return from our forwards saw Georgia sending it down a wing with a 2 on 1 and a quick draw and pass to player’s player Coralie and she was under the posts!
Side note, mum of the team Mel has played for 4 years and yet her daughter has scored one in her second game. Must’ve got her talent from her father.
Jury still out on this.
Georgia to convert to 7-7.
From here the meat pies went missing for the She Devs and the girls started to drop like flies.
Injuries to our star halfback Mong had Harden scrambling to create the flashy football the She Devs have been working towards.
Again credit to Temora who stuck to their game plan and chipped away.
Isabel, Coralie and Molly stepped up and kept chugging it up and trying their hearts out, but to no avail.
Credit to them for keeping on going.
Livvy McGrath had her first run and good to see the nerves are gone now and onto the rest of the season.
Credit to Harden’s made up forward pack for giving it their all.
They never gave up and look forward to hopefully getting a few girls keen again.
Coaching staff have been given 2 weeks to pull it back together.
This is the first warning before potential contract revisions.
Go hard She Devils and give them hell.
Bring on West Wyalong in the next match
