Friday, 29th April was the last day of work of Flexible Care Services’ CEO Debby Glover who has retired after nearly eight years at the helm.

At a short ceremony at lunchtime, Debby was farewelled by staff and board directors and presented with some beautiful gifts in appreciation of her dedicated service to the organisation.

Debby was previously treasurer of Flexible Care before being selected as its Service Manager. She commenced work on 2nd June 2014 following the retirement of Pat Thurkettle who spent years putting Flexible Care on a very firm footing.

In recent times, the title “Service Manager” was changed to “Chief Executive Officer” to more accurately reflect the nature and breadth of the work actually carried out.

Debby has always been a “numbers person” and this is probably her greatest strength.

Over the years, she has ensured that Flexible Care has a strong financial basis for a not-for-profit community-based business.

“Debby’s amazing budgeting, financial and accounting skills have meant that our organisation has been in excellent hands” said Flexible Care’s chairperson Stewart Bruce.

Following open advertisement, Maryanne Fitzgerald was successful in appointment as the new CEO.

Debby and Maryanne have been working very hard over the past five weeks in a “hand over period” which has ensured a smooth transition.

Stewart mentioned that “we are very grateful that Debby agreed to stay on for a hand-over period to help Maryanne ‘learn the ropes’.

This time has been well spent.

We all wish Debby an enjoyable retirement with more time now for family and friends.”
