Eighteen new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the Murrumbidgee Local Health District to 8pm last night. Nine cases are residents of the Albury LGA, three have been linked to previously known cases and six remain under investigation. Six cases are residents of the Greater Hume LGA, two are linked to previously known cases and four remain under investigation.
Two cases are residents of the Murray River LGA and are linked to previously known cases. One case is a resident of the Edward River LGA and is linked to previously known cases. There has been a total of 105 cases and one death recorded in the MLHD since the start of the current outbreak.
These include 51 in Albury LGA, 25 in Hilltops LGA, 11 in Edward River LGA, eight in the Greater Hume LGA, four in Murray River LGA, two in Wagga Wagga LGA, two in the Berrigan LGA, one in Griffith LGA, and one in Federation LGA. EWAGE DETECTIONS MLHD confirms that fragments of the virus that causes COVID-19 have been detected in sewage in Albury and Wagga. The detections are linked to known cases in the area as well as patients in care at the Wagga Base Hospital COVID-19 ward. CRITICAL TESTING Residents in Albury, Edward River, Greater Hume and Murray River LGA’s are urged to limit their movements in and out of the community at this time and widespread COVID-19 testing is critical.
Anyone currently experiencing, or who has recently experienced even mild cold-like symptoms is asked to come forward immediately for testing. It’s important that you isolate after your test until you get a result if you have symptoms. Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, sore throat, cough, headache, runny nose, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle aches or pains, and a change in taste or smell.
