Harden’s Nic Fuller at the Bowling Club, were he has been undertaking work.
The Harden District Bowling Club Chinese Restaurant has been hopeful of a Melbourne Cup Day reopening after demolition works neared their completion this week. It will now be up to the builders working on the project to install the upgraded facilities over the next 4 weeks to bring the club’s eatery back to life. This will include new stainless steel benches, cookers and burners to make it a state of the art facility.

The kitchen area suffered extensive damage from fire in January with the Club’s President Shane McKellar and Vice President Dick Walsh working with the assessors, the insurance company and the construction company whilst also having to deal with the road blocks imposed by Covid. Both men have done a terrific job in coordinating the project. Builders were to come from Sydney originally, however, this was not possible. They were then sourced from the Yass area, with Harden’s own Nick Fuller one of the ‘chippys’ on site.
Bowling Club President, “Shane McKellar said that the hand over date has actually been brought forward to October 27 if everything goes to plan. We would like to see everyone get back to the club today. We are out of lock down and a few surprises will be forthcoming in the next couple of weeks. Bowls will be on Sunday and it would be good to see a good crowd turn up and support the club.”
