Buyers flocked to the Yarrawonga Ram Sale last Monday and also bid of the Rams via online auction.
268 Poll Merino and Merino rams went up with lot number 33 selling for $13,000 which was bought by Ernie and Deb Constance of Peak View.
Along with the $13,000 top priced ram, three other lots sold for $12,000 with another three selling for $10,000. This year’s sale provided Yarrawonga with one of their highest averages of $4,123 per ram.
Steve Phillips said overall the sale was terrific.
“To have a total clearance was unbelievable. Without having such a high price, there were a lot of rams available within people’s budgets which we were really happy with.”
Steve said that he thinks the line up was the best Yarrawonga have had in terms of depth.
“They sold well right until the end because there was so much depth in the rams and would have averaged over 100 kilograms in body weight. Their average clean fleece weight was around 28.3 and their average MP+ was 178.9.”
“They were right up at the top of the industry which we were thrilled with.”
“Around 50 of the rams sold online and 43 percent of the bids were online so it worked out well for those who were unable to attend in person.”
Through the online auction there were 100 viewers along with 23 logged-on buyers from Tasmania, Victoria, South Australia and NSW.
Steve said there was a lot of interest in the rams both locally and nationally.
“There were a lot of local properties who bought rams, some also went to Tasmania and Queensland as well as a lot of other places.”
Steve believes that the online sale was a great asset.
“With videos and figures being provided online people can confidently buy online. They now have a lot of data on the sheep so that makes it a lot easier for people to buy.”
Steve would like to thank everyone who showed up on the day.
“It was great to see a lot of people at the sale and to bid the way they did was great.”
