The Hilltops Lockdown Government Area will have its lockdown lifted from 12.01am on Friday, October 1, in preparation for the long weekend.

This news comes despite one new confirmed case of COVID-19 being reported in the Murrumbidgee Local Health District to 8pm last night.

“The case is a resident of the Hilltops Local Government Area and is a household contact of a known case. The case is in home isolation,” the MLHD Public Health Alert read.

“This brings the total number of cases in Hilltops LGA to 19 and Albury LGA to 7, with a total of 26 cases in the MLHD since the start of the current outbreak.”

NSW Health confirmed the news of the lockdown being lifted for the Hilltops LGA on Thursday morning.

“Stay-at-home orders will be lifted, as scheduled, from tomorrow, Friday 1 October, for Mid-Western Regional, Hilltops and Walgett LGAs,” NSW Health released in a statement.

“NSW Health will continue to closely monitor the evolving situation with COVID-19 and will not hesitate to update its advice to protect the health and wellbeing of the people of NSW.”

The Hilltops LGA entered what was a seven-day lockdown on Friday, September 17 at 6pm, before being extended for an extra seven days due to a further 17 confirmed cases in the area.

The Hilltops LGA has been in lockdown for 14 days during the lastest stint.
